2016 BMW M4 GTS Testing with bigger Rear Wing on the Nurburgring

The upcoming 2016 BMW M4 GTS — or CSL if BMW decides on the right moniker — has been caught on tape at the Nurburgring race track doing some hot laps. The racing version of the M4 Coupe sports a bigger rear wing that what we have seen before, but it’s unknown whether this version will make it onto the final product.

First units will be delivered in 2016 and will be sold as a Model Year 2017, and it even popped up in the ordering system for U.S. dealerships.

Our sources say ceramic brakes will be standard on the GTS and dual-clutch transmission is likely to be the only choice offered.

In addition to the obvious aerodynamic components, customers can look forward to some new lightweight elements on the M4 GTS. The weight benefits will also be realized through the omission of the rear bench and the use of extremely lightweight bucket seats.

To further improve the power-to-weight ratio, a performance upgrade for the twin-turbo inline six-cylinder S55 in on BMW’s list as well. We currently estimate that the expected BMW M4 GTS middle-class athlete will drive its rear wheels with about 470 hp. BMW M4 GTS will feature the water injection system seen in the BMW M4 MotoGP Safety Car.

Let’s have a look.
